BMW Other description

2013 BMW R 1200 RT, As far as two-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and its been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travelers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish: excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*. In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message: built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go. Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. The characteristic boxer supremacy has been further enhanced in the current version: the engines crowning glory is now the radial DOHC** valve operating system from the HP2 Sport, though here designed for greater torque and without any loss of running smoothness: maximum torque 88foot poundsat 6,000 rpm, rated output still at 110 horsepower. This means a tangible increase in thrust from the lower engine speed range through to above the medium range. The new valve control in the exhaust system ensures a discreet but more dynamic sound. And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a single unit. So theres only one thing you have to do yourself - drop by for a test ride. *ESA II = Electronic Suspension Adjustment. Electronic spring mount and spring rate adjustment ** DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder

2024 GS Trophy Day 3 – Challenging the Omaruru

Wed, 18 Sep 2024

Team USA’s third day began with a total disqualification from the overall standings. Kirk Graydon, our competitor from South Carolina, began feeling ill during day two, making it into camp on fumes and eventually getting an IV and nausea medication to help relieve his symptoms. With no appetite and a shot from the doc to help him sleep, Graydon slowly started feeling better, but elected not to continue the GS Trophy alongside his teammates the following day due to safety concerns for himself and others.

New naked BMW spotted on track days

Sat, 03 Sep 2016

The future generation of the "1-liter" naked BMW S1000R was spotted during the development tests on the territory of the German racing "ring" Oschersleben. Apparently, the Bavarian streetfighter will receive a number of technical solutions that his older brother, the BMW S1000RR, was endowed with a couple of years ago. Just as the current generation of the SR was created on the base of the previous SR-era, the 2017 modification will actually become a stripped version of today's sportbike.

EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW R1200RT Revealed

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

We confess, the BMW R1200RT was a glaring omission from our list of top 10 motorcycles to watch at EICMA. There are so many new bikes coming out at the 2013 EICMA show, it was hard enough to narrow it down to just 10, but that doesn’t excuse us forgetting BMW is adding another model powered by the new R1200GS‘ liquid-cooled boxer engine. Follow the rest of our 2013 EICMA show coverage The peak numbers for the R1200RT are the same as with the GS, with BMW claiming 125 hp at 7700 rpm and 92.2 ft-lb at 6500 rpm.
