Yamaha Joins the Automated Manual Transmission Club

Expect Y-AMT on the MT-09 and other sporty streetbikes Yamaha announced a new automatic transmission system, joining the list of manufacturers introducing some form of electronic gear shifting technology following Honda, BMW, and KTM. The Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system allows for quick shifting without the need for a manual clutch lever, with Yamaha claiming more consistently faster and precise shifting than the latest quickshifters currently available. Y-AMT isn’t Yamaha’s first foray into automatic shifting.

Competition Accessories Steps Up Sponsorship of Foremos/Pegram Racing AMA Superbike Team

Competition Accessories, the well known direct merchant of motorcycle parts and accessories and Other Accessories has stepped up its promotional support for Larry Pegram and the Foremost/Pegram Racing BMW S1000RR campaigning in the AMA American Superbike Championship for 2011. In addition to increasing its traditional long-term level of support for the team, Comp-A® is sponsoring the distribution of specially designed (see image) 50th Anniversary shirts for several hours each race day from the Pegram Racing Transport / Garage area. EICMA 2011 Preview: BMW Maxi-Scooters to Debut in Milan

BMW will present its 2012 lineup at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan, Italy, but the centerpiece will be the company’s first maxi-scooters. The German manufacturer is expected to reveal two scooter models, both derived from the Concept C BMW unveiled at the 2010 EICMA show. The two scooters are expected to be powered by a version of the parallel Twin engine used in the F800R, but with a lower displacement in the 500cc-650cc range.
