The R1200GS is powered by the BMW 1170cc twin-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 105 bhp and 85 ft. lbs. of torque. A six-speed gearbox transfers power through a shaft drive to the rear wheel. Factory options include Low Suspension, Chrome Exhaust, Heated Grips, On Board Computer, ABS, Saddlebags, TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring, ASC (Automatic Stability Control), Spoke Wheels, Trunk, Engine Protection Bars and Foglights. Celebrity Jurors Named for BMW R1200GS Contest
Mon, 26 Nov 2012BMW announced its four-member celebrity jury panel for its globe-spanning “Ride of Your Life” R1200GS adventure contest. The panel is comprised of Academy-Award winner Adrien Brody, Paris-Dakar Rally winner Jutta Kleinschmidt, actor Rick Yune and noted motorcycle adventurer Charley Boorman. The panel will select five winners for the “Ride of Your Life” contest (also known as the “One World, One GS” contest) to promote the new 2013 BMW R1200GS.
BMW Reports Q2 2013 Results – 15.5% Increase Produces Record Quarter
Thu, 01 Aug 2013BMW reported a record second quarter with sales of 40,209 motorcycles for the three months ended June 30, 2013. The quarter saw a year-on-year increase of 15.5% from sales of 34,816 motorcycles reported in 2012. For the year to date, BMW has sold 64,941 motorcycles, also a record for first half sales in the company’s 90 years in the motorcycle business (those numbers however do include 1,110 Husqvarna motorcycles sold in the first quarter before the brand was acquired by Pierer Industries.) The record half comes in the face of a worldwide decline of 7.1% for motorcycles 500cc and larger over the first six months.
