BMW Other description
1964 BMW R60/2, In early 2012 we purchased this bike in from the original owner, a wonderful man Bob has known since he was in high school as he went there with his daughter. Paul purchased this machine new in 1964 and never purchased another bike. His owning this bike was actually one of the connections that led to Bob buying a BMW himself in 1975 and ending up in this business as Paul introduced him to many people in the local community (separate from the local organized club) who helped Bob develop the love he has for all things BMW. One of those guys was the only person to ever wrench on this bike until his passing about 16 years back and that???s when Bob and Bob???s started caring for it.It has always been garaged and well cared for and ridden regularly but not too far since it is now 49 years old and has just over 40,000 miles. Paul mostly rode it locally and to some of the BMW Rallies in the region. The service history that Bob???s BMW can share is rather extensive as Paul took most all our recommendations for maintenance, service and assorted upgrades so that it ran well all the time. When it came time for head work, resealing this or that or replacing the exhaust it was all done. The exhaust is stainless steel in fact. Again, we can open up the file and show you most all that???s been done over the years.Paul kept the cosmetics in exceptionally good shape and with the exception of the Craven top box all paint is to the best of Bob???s vast level of expertise original there are maybe 2 or 3 small scratches to be found and they are not very noticeable. As you can see the tank and fenders shine brightly and those pin stripes have never been touched up. Yes, there are a few decals on the bags plus one travel badge attached to the front fender (2 screws) as was the style but overall with these very correct period touring accessories it fulfills the role of a classic BMW from the 1955 to 1069 era. If you look closely you???ll see a rare and very period Iron Cross extra tail lamp under the trunk. But perhaps the best part of having all these hard to find goodies is that the Wixom Ranger fairing, the 3 piece Craven luggage, BMW Police style cylinder guards and even the touring passenger grab rail can all easily be removed should one want a bare bones standard but beautiful example to ride around on from time to time or even more permanently.

New: BMW System 6 Evo helmet
Fri, 12 Apr 2013BMW has released the new System 6 Evo flip-front helmet. It retains the clean lines of the System 6, while increasing levels of comfort and practicality with a more scratch-resistant internal sun visor, a more robust visor mechanism designed to make operation with gloved hands easier, improved ventilation control on the chin, and a revised spoiler for better aerodynamics. BMW says it has a unique chin bar pivot which reduces the size of the helmet when the chin bar is upright. Weighing in at 1.57kg, the ECE 22-05 homologated Evo is a quiet lid, with noise levels registering at 84-86 dBA at 62 mph. The helmet comes ready for installation of the BMW Communication system, offering a Bluetooth connection to the BMW Navigator IV sat-nav, music players, mobile phones and other BMW helmets.
S1000RR vs. Goodwood
Sat, 20 Mar 2010And before you say it, no it's not "Start and finish a journey on two wheels without falling off." I rode up Goodwood's hill. And I did it on BMW's mighty S1000RR. Ok, so it wasn't infront of thousands of on-lookers and it wasn't at any great speed.
The future of law enforcement?
Mon, 12 Jul 2010THANKFULLY you're not looking at latest addition to the US Police force's motorcycle fleet - it's the futuristic machine that featured in the 2009 movie "Star Trek" .It's being prepped before being suspended mid-air in the "Born to be Wild: Vintage and Celebrity Motorcycles" exhibition in the Reagan Library's Air Force One Pavilion in Simi Valley, California. Looks a bit like a BMW R1200S, don't you think?
