Ridden: BMW R1200GS Adventure

Fri, 07 Oct 2011

My first meeting with a BMW GS was an unfortunate one. It was going back a few years now (certainly pre-Charlie McGregor era) Having just picked up this new model, I’d ridden 100 miles on a warm summer’s evening to reach my house by dusk. Mindful of the fact that said house contained two frenetic, bark-happy border collies and a small, sleeping child, I cut the ignition, whipped the clutch in and planned a gentle coast up to the area outside my front door.

Charley Boorman’s BMW R1200 GS Adventure Stolen – and Recovered

Fri, 27 Apr 2012

Adventure touring documentary star Charley Boorman and his BMW R1200GS Adventure have traveled a long way together, but the motorcycle had a bit of an adventure on its own after thieves stole the bike. The stolen BMW wasn’t the one Boorman rode with Ewen McGregor in “Long Way Round” (that was a R1150GS Adventure) or the one used in the sequel “Long Way Down“. Boorman did ride it on his last project, “Charley Boorman’s Extreme Frontiers: Canada”.

WSBK 2012: Assen Results

Mon, 23 Apr 2012

The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick.
