BMW F-Series description
Chicago, IL As a new father, I'm selling my beloved F800GS. It has been well used in the last 4 years but also very well taken care of. It runs like a clock and has been nothing but reliable for 30,000 miles. Regular maintenance and oil changes by both the dealer and myself. Only 4 years old. Totally dependable. To outfit a new bike with the same level and quality of gear you'd spend over $22,000. Bluebook is around 9,000, extras easily bring it to 10,500. This bike is adventure ready and proven. It has an auxiliary tank and a range of around 300 miles. It has taken me through Death Valley and up to Deadhorse via the Dalton Highway last summer with no problems. It is great for long highway miles and totally capable offroad. Its size and presence help with visibility when commuting in the city as well. It has nearly $7000 in accessories but no frivolous farkles! Everything is there for a purpose and meant to strengthen its capabilities as an adventure bike. (with the exception of the short beak, my preference) For example: HyperPro Progressive fork and rear springs settle and improve the OEM set-up for both on road, minimizing front end diving under braking, and off road performance. Here's the list of add-ons with original cost of items - THESE ARE ALL INCLUDED in the 10,500 selling price. BMW panniers $1,000 BMW Vario Topbox $450 Garmin Zumo GPS with powered mount $500 Wunderlich Vario Clutch/Brake Levers $330 Wunderlich Tankbag $250 Denali Lights $265 per pair $530 Touratech Desierto Fairing $830 HyperPro progressive front fork springs $200 Hyper pro progressive rear spring $180 Touratech headlight guard $120 Ralle Moto Steering Damper $590 Rox Risers $110 Short Beak Conversion Kit $215 Holan Engine Guards $290 Pivot Pegz $170 Sargent Seat $450 Remus Hexacone Muffler $750 BestRest Shock Bolt support $120 Camel Adv Products Auxiliary Tank $400 Gerbing temp controller and port $80 Also included: DoubleTake Enduro Mirrors (OEM included) Cruze Toolkit Spare clutch and throttle cables (zip tied alongside active cables) Spare spark plugs Rotopax fuel containers and mounting system OEM windshield OEM muffler OEM beak OEM seat BMW specific spark plug changing tool Recent additions - this winter: New TKC 80 tires front and rear New DID 525 gold chain New front and rear sprockets New K&N metal reusable Air Filter New battery Fresh oil change and filter Checked both wheel bearings New brake pads auxiliary lights/GPS/heated gear all wired through new Denali Powerhub - clean install Known issues: Side stand switch disabled - gear indicator sometimes displays wrong gear which can trick the bike into killing the ignition when the side stand is down. I disabled the switch (which is often disabled anyway as it is a failure point which can cause trouble on when on a trip). Remember to raise the sidestand before departing. Rims scratched from tire changes - merely aesthetic Scuffed plastics and engine guards - normal usage This is a great bike with an adventure pedigree. Still some Dalton Highway dust on it somewhere I'm sure. I trust it with my life. In the interest of full disclosure, there was an incident in March 2014 - an RX7 (fully at fault) turned left without yielding and damaged the front end. To be comprehensive, the entire front end was completely replaced with brand new OEM parts, covered by insurance (no penny pinching), and installed and certified by trusted SF BMW Motorrad technicians. This was well before I undertook the 12,235 mile round trip to Alaska last summer. There are ZERO after effects from the incident. No frame deflection. No issues whatsoever. Like I said, I trust this bike with my life, and you can too. |

Fri, 16 May 2014Alastair Seeley took a double in the Ballymoney Borough council Supersport and Pirtek Superstock events at the start of racing at the Vauxhall International North West 200 this evening, what many “real” road racers refer to as the precursor to the Isle Of Man TT. In the Supersport race, the ‘Wee Wizard’ survived being caught up in a first lap crash at York hairpin that left him languishing in 16th to come through and win the opening race of the night on his Mar-Train Yamaha R6. Lee Johnston was the rider who went down in the first lap crash, causing Seeley to take evasive action to avoid going down himself.
