You've got to feel sorry for this guy

Thu, 22 Jul 2010

I feel so sorry for this guy. He's got his pride and joy, his dream bike and it catches on fire and there's little he can do about it.

Here's what the owner has to say: "It must have just been the rubber line that touched a pipe and caught fire. The bike had been warming up for about 10 minutes when I grabbed the clutch to put it in gear, I shifted down to first and it died. I grabbed the clutch again, and there was no resistance, which told me the line broke somewhere. It was then that I noticed smoke, threw it back on the kickstand and jumped off to find what was burning. Stuck my nose between the fiberglass and the tank and saw a fire start on top of the crankcase on the left side. The fire burned green. I ran for towels to smother the fire but to no avail, it kept going. I then ran for a fire extinguisher, but in a panic, like a girl in a horror movie, i ran in circles. Grabbed the hose and by then the fire had caught the fuel line on the left side and it was over. Called the fire department and started taking videos and pictures and watched her burn."

I suppose it's thehard way to learn that water won't put out a petrol fire.
