Peel three-wheeler

This early ciné film footage of the Peel three-wheeler, shot in what looks like Peel in the Isle of Man, is so good it’s a wonder the car never really took off. Possibly.

I love the way, having being waved away by what look like nuns, the driver promptly twats the right hand gatepost within twenty feet of its start point. Is the driver pissed? Is the car that difficult to control at low speed? Maybe it's a combination of the two factors.

Better still is the lurching, pitching and smoking deviation it makes to take a steep road to the left, all the time looking like it might all end in a horrific fire-ballin’ accident.

You’ve just got to love the Isle of Man, haven’t you?
