New: Bering steel textile jacket
Sun, 01 Jun 2008Retro-styled jackets always appeal to me, the simple clean lines span across the seasons of fashion making the purchase price justifiable.
The style detail on the sleeves is beautiful, and while the rest of the jacket is bland in comparison I think this is quite clever.
The Knox body armour in the shoulders is quite bulky, although not uncomfortable, but it did make me feel and possibly look a bit broad (as opposed to ‘a broad’ which I am, I suppose), and the horizontal white stripe across my upper chest probably didn’t do that any favours.
It has all the features you’d expect of a good mid range textile jacket: removable quilted inner lining, Scotchlite reflective strips integrated into the design, 2 belt loops and side hip-zips with a small button strap over.
Whilst it doesn’t leave me spinning with giddy excitement or frothing with hatred, it’s comfortable, looks okay with a couple of nice features, and surely that’s exactly what a mid range jacket should be. Job, as they say, done.
Pros: Simple stylish elegance
Cons: Bulky shoulders
Price: £140
