Motorcycle Gymkhana: The Perfect Use For A Helmet-Mounted Swivel Camera – Video

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

We’ve posted motorcycle gymkhana videos before, but this takes the production value up just a notch with the camera mounted on a swivel on the rider’s helmet! In case you aren’t familiar with this form of motorcycle competition, the course is generally set in a large parking lot type setting and is marked with cones. But this isn’t your basic rider course. In gymkhana the turns are tight, first gear affairs, sometimes requiring the rider to make a full circle around a cone in both directions!

Unfortunately, my Japanese is non-existent so I don’t know who this rider is or where the competition took place, but it appears he’s riding a Honda two-stroke. If you have more information, please tell us in the comments below. Meanwhile, check out the cool footage captured with this unique mounting setup.

Judging by the title of the video, this was a recent competition and this rider was the winner. Considering the fact he’s able to navigate the course without falling or touching down, all while having a camera dangle from his helmet, it doesn’t surprise me that this guy won.
