Marc Marquez To Join Factory Ducati MotoGP Squad
Wed, 05 Jun 2024Eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez is set to join Francesco Bagnaia in the factory Ducati squad for the next two MotoGP seasons.
Ducati Corse has confirmed that Marquez will race in Ducati Lenovo Team colors, replacing Enea Bastianini at the end of the 2024 season. Marquez, currently with Gresini Racing, will team up with Bagnaia, the reigning back-to-back premier class World Champion, in the iconic Bologna red.
Ducati's announcement follows closely on the heels of Aprilia's news that they have signed Ducati protege Jorge Martin for the next two seasons, leaving Marquez as the only candidate for the second factory Ducati seat.
"I am very happy to be able to wear the red colours of the factory Ducati team in MotoGP next season. Basically, from the first contact with the Desmosedici GP, I enjoyed riding it and adapted well straight away. From that moment on, I knew that my goal was to continue this path, to continue to grow, and to move to the team where Francesco Bagnaia has been the World Champion for two years in a row. I am happy to be able to take this big step in 2025 and grateful for the trust Ducati has placed in me," Marquez was quoted as saying by MotoGP.com.
Marquez, an eight-time world champion, claimed the MotoGP titles in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 with Honda. His career took a downturn due to arm injuries beginning in 2020 at Jerez. However, he has already achieved three grand prix podiums for Gresini on the GP23 this year.

Makes one wonder if Repsol will ditch Honda and riding around in last place and come along with Marc on the Ducati.
