MV Agusta To Race BSB In 2013
Mon, 29 Oct 2012News from Varese, Italy, has MV Agusta making a return to racing, choosing the British Superbike Championship as the series where it will campaign two factory-backed entries.
The British Superbike Championship (or BSB) is arguably the most exciting domestic series in the world. It implemented new rules for 2012 designed to keep costs manageable by limiting the modifications allowed, which has resulted in tight racing the whole year. UK dealership, Robinsons of Rochdale will run the team and will campaign two F4RR superbikes, which we tested last week. MV’s UK importer, MotoGB will be preparing each machine.
As with any new team, especially one campaigning a new motorcycle, there’s a long road ahead with much preparation needed before the start of the season. Steve Rostron, General Manager of Robinsons of Rochdale, doesn’t seem worried though, as, according to him, much of the infrastructure is already in place. Exactly what that means is still a mystery, as the hunt is still on for a “top-line team manager” and most importantly, its two riders.
If it all comes together, adding a legendary name like MV Agusta to the stacked BSB grid should do nothing but help bolster the series.
