Lorenzo channeling his inner-Doohan

Seeing Jorge Lorenzo ride in today’s Assen qualifying reminded me of Mick Doohan’s masterful display at the Dutch circuit from the above video.

It appears that Lorenzo is not content unless he is the top of the results sheets at the end of each session. Is this a forewarning to a return to multiple years of one rider dominating the championship, especially when considering that Lorenzo disappeared in to the horizon at Silverstone?

Further demoralising the opposition in the qualifying this afternoon Lorenzo clocked his best lap at the last possible moment of the session, beating his own lap by two tenths of a second.

In the meantime, whilst Rossi is away healing, it seems the scene will be set for a Lorenzo to win for the next handful of races. And even then can Rossi come back and beat someone who exudes the utmost confidence in both his ability and his bike.
