Intermot 2012: Special Edition Suzuki GSX-R1000 Celebrates 1 Millionth Gixxer
Thu, 04 Oct 2012Suzuki is celebrating the production of the 1 millionth motorcycle in the GSX-R family with a limited edition model.
Unveiled at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, the Millionth Edition 2013 Suzuki GSX-R1000 comes with a commemorative paint scheme, black Brembo brake calipers, pin-striped wheels, gold fork tubes and red fork caps, suspension spring and nose.
The top yoke also features a numbered Millionth Edition plate and the key is decorated with Suzuki’s red “R” logo.
Suzuki first introduced the GSX-R series in 1985 with the GSX-R750. Since then, Suzuki has added a number of models including the GSX-R1000 and the GSX-R600, and the discontinued GSX-R1100. There were also a couple of smaller-displacement models offered for some markets, such as the GSX-R250 and GSX-R400, but it’s not clear if they were included in the million units.
Suzuki has also created a website, www.gsx-r1million.com, celebrating the history of the GSX-R sportbikes including a look at their various designs over the years and their racing successes.
Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
