Honda's latest Cub

Honda released their original C100 Super Cub way back in 1958 when other bikes at the time proved to be notoriously unreliable and difficult to ride. Since then, they have sold over 27 million C90s, with the step-through framed bike proving to be easy to ride and even easier to maintain.

Looking like it's come straight from the film WALL-E, the new UNI-CUB might have two wheels but any similarity with a Honda C90 ends there. With a top speed of 6km/h the mobility device would be no match for the original 49cc Cub, which could reach the dizzy heights of 40mph with its 4.5bhp engine. 

Instead the UNI-CUB is currently just a showcase for what Honda's robot engineers are capable of, so don't expect to see one in your local dealer anytime soon. If this is the future, perhaps a stronger version for stout users is in need as the pounds will pile on some users when they no longer have to walk anywhere. Perhaps Honda could upgrade the seat for a porcelain throne and get it to run on gas? Just a thought.
