Hero MotoCorp Trademarks 8 Models with USPTO

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

Hero MotoCorp is getting closer to launching its small-displacement motorcycles and scooters in America, recently filing trademarks for eight models with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. On Aug. 19, Hero filed trademarks for the Splendor, Pleasure, Karizma, Hunk and Eco Deluxe, and on Aug. 29, the company filed additional trademarks for the Xtreme Sports, Splendor Pro Classic and the HX250R.

All but two of those names are for existing models currently in Hero’s lineup in India. The Xtreme Sports is expected to arrive in Indian showrooms this fall while the EBR-developed HX250R is expected in 2015.

The Indian manufacturer had originally planned to start importing models in mid-2014 through its distribution partner Erik Buell Racing but the summer came and went without any Hero bikes arriving. Hero has been maintaining a presence through its 49.2% stake in EBR and sponsorship of its AMA Superbike factory team.

Hero has also announced a partnership with the Tiger Woods Foundation to host the golfer’s charity tournament Dec. 3-7 at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Fla.

Speaking of Orlando, we may hear more information about Hero’s U.S. plans in a couple of weeks at AIMExpo, which would mark a year since EBR announced plans to be Hero’s distributor. For now, here’s a brief look at the trademarked motorcycles:
