Estate of Gary Nixon Up For Auction June 16, 2012
Thu, 24 May 2012The estate of legendary motorcycle racer and all around fun guy, Gary Nixon, will go on auction June 16,2012, in York, PA.
Nixon passed in August, 2011, while recovering from heart surgery. A two-time AMA Grand National Champion (1967 – ’68), Nixon was an accomplished flattrack and road racer. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.
Of the many items listed in the auction are a number of Nixon’s motorcycles, including a Triumph Cub, a 1968 Triumph 250, another racing Triumph Cub, and his personal 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250.
Here’s a smattering of other items up for auction:
–10 leather racing suits
–Gary Nixon helmets
–several national trophies (1967 Daytona 250, 1966 Springfield, 1968 Columbus, 1967 Formula C short track, 1964 Sacramento, 1973 Pocono, 2002 Springfield, 1973/74 Loudon, 1966 comb Loudon, 1970 Loudon, 1963/65 Santa Fe short track & others)
–silver plate National bowls & plates given to Gary from Triumph Corp. for winning nationals
–skid shoes, as well as boots and gloves
