Entry-level Aprilia RS4 125 to be Offered with Quick Shifter
Wed, 25 May 2011Aprilia U.K. will offer a quick shifter as an optional add-on to the Aprilia RS4 125 entry-level sportbike.
Inherited from the Aprilia RSV4 R APRC, the quick shifter allows for clutchless upshifts without needing to close the throttle. While the racing and trackday applications for the quick shifter on the RSV4 R APRC are clear, on a beginner-level model like the RS4 125, it helps ease the learning curve for new riders.
There’s no word yet whether the quick shifter option will be offered in the U.S. when the Aprilia RS4 125 arrives later this year as a 2012 model. In the U.K., the quick shifter adds an extra 99 pounds (US$160) to the Aprilia RS4 125′s 3,999 pound (US$6,500) price tag.

Press release after the jump.
The new 4-stroke Aprilia RS4 125 will be available with an optional quickshifter, just like its RSV4 R APRC sibling.
Now you can experience the fun and involvement of split-second clutchless upshifting on a 125cc motorcycle, without having to secure a ride in the 125 GP!
The new 4-stroke RS4 will sit alongside the 2-stroke RS125 in the range. It offers new and young riders class-leading big-bike styling, handling and brakes as well as the fuel economy, flexibility and reliability of a 4-stroke engine. The RS4 will be landing in dealers in July 2011 with a price of £3,999 OTR.
The RS4 125 offers a number of features and benefits that place it at the top of the 125cc 4-stroke class:
Maximum power – the RS4’s liquid-cooled DOHC 4v engine is the most advanced in the class and makes the maximum power permitted for a learner.
RSV4 styling – styling echoes the RSV4 R Factory from the triple headlights all the way back to the sharp sculpted tail unit, setting a new standard for 125cc design and sophistication.
Class-leading handling, thanks to 41mm USD forks, a 300mm front disc brake with radial 4-piston caliper and a die cast aluminium chassis developed on the back of 125 GP racing experience.
Quick-swap pillion seat cover – the pillion seat can be swapped for a seat cowl in moments with a quick-release button, transforming the RS4 into a sporty single-seater.
Superbike-inspired analogue/digital clocks feature a sophisticated LCD display of the like normally only seen on larger capacity sports bikes.
Underslung exhaust – the exhaust is integrated neatly into the lower fairing for a race-inspired look and better mass centralisation.
Optional quickshifter – make the most of what the RS4 125 has to offer with seamless ultra-fast clutchless up-shifting. Expected price of £99 (inc. VAT).
