Book of gods
Sat, 09 Oct 2010There's no denying digital is impressive. HDTV is fantastic, digital photography has surpassed all expectations and dot com now gives more information than we'll ever need. When the decision was made to make Visordown a digital only brand a big hole appeared in my life. You see, for the last three years I've had a routine based on three weeks of toil putting the mag together and then a wait of a few days for it to return from the printers. The feeling of excitement when a hard copy dropped on to your desk was, for a designer, akin to being a child at christmas.
News of a Deus book had been floating around for a while so when the newsletter dropped into my inbox announcing its arrival I immediately clicked the purchase button. Seven days passed, a sense of excitement grew and a feeling returned that I'd missed over the last few months.
There are few words, plenty of gorgeous photographs and some really lovely design and I can guarantee it won't appeal to the masses but I love it. It's great looking through a book that inspires you, even the packaging the book arrives in is art.
Deus divides people like Marmite and this book will only enhance this anology. Much of the imagery has been seen before on the site and it's not cheap at £45 (and the same again for shipping) but it's filled a hole in my life and for that I'm grateful.
