BMW Reports Q3 2011 Results
Thu, 03 Nov 2011The BMW Group reported a 14.8% increase in motorcycle revenue and a 6.5% increase in unit sales during the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2011.
The German manufacturer sold 28,862 units over the quarter, including 26,312 BMW-branded motorcycles and 2,550 units from its Husqvarna subsidiary. BMW sales were up 7.4% from the 24,493 units sold in the same quarter of 2010. Husqvarna sales were down 1.9% however from the 2,601 units sold in Q3 2010.
Motorcycle-related revenue totaled 334 million euros (US$461 million), up 14.8% from 291 million (US$402 million) in the same quarter of 2010.
Third quarter sales in the U.S. were not announced but on the year, BMW has sold 9,553 units over the first nine months, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%.
As a company, the BMW Group reported a net profit of 1.08 billion euros (US$1.50 billion), a year-on-year increase f 23.8% over the 874 million euros (US$1.21 billion) profit in Q3 2010.
