2014 Kawasaki J300 Scooter Spotted Filming in Milan

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Of the “Big Four” Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, Kawasaki stands out from Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha in at least one notable way: it doesn’t produce scooters. Well, at least not for developed western markets. In the Philippines, Kawasaki offers a 112cc step-through scooter called the Curve, pictured above, while other Asian markets get underbone-style models like the Indonesian Kawasaki Edge R. But for markets such as North America and Europe, we’ve been left scooter-less by Team Green.

That may soon change however, as a new Kawasaki scooter called the J300 has reportedly been spotted in a video shoot in Milan, Italy, by a member of the Grisoguzzi.it forum. Oddly enough for this day and age, no spy photos have been leaked yet, so we have no evidence to support this forum member’s claims. The forum member, writing under the username “ninomiao” says the production team filmed the J300 over two nights and asked him not to take any pictures.

Ninomiao did post a description of the new scooter as a sporty-looking along the lines of the Yamaha T-Max, but with Kawasaki branding and the company’s signature green and black colors. It sported a single petal-style front disc brake, though it is reportedly equipped with ABS.

This isn’t the first time a new unannounced Kawasaki model was first spotted during a video shoot. The 636cc 2013 Ninja ZX-6R was first seen during a video shoot on the Isle of Man, while recently-revealed 2014 Ninja 1000 was also spotted filming on a road in Norway.

Again, we only have a single eye-witness account about a new Kawasaki J300 scooter, but we’ll likely only have to wait about a month for the 2013 EICMA show, also in Milan, to find out.
