Tue, 01 Jul 2014

On Tuesday, August 5th, at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, the sixth annual Biker Belles symposium presented by Harley-Davidson kicks off at The Lodge at Deadwood. Proceedings get underway with filmmaker, Michelle Carpenter, showing a clip from her new documentary about women riders, “Driven to Ride.”

When Carpenter finishes, a panel of leading industry women will address attending participants, including motivational speaker and safety expert, Cat Hammes; Team Diva owner, Diva Amy Skaling; ROAR Motorcycles founder, Kathy Tolleson; National Online Director of Marketing & PR for Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, Audrey Nesbitt; drag racer, Andie Gaskins; and more.

Following the symposium check out The Comfort Zone by Team Diva. This retreat area of The Lodge at Deadwood features new beauty care, fashion ware and ride gear made specifically for women riders. Following that, safety expert, Vicki Roberts-Sanfelipo, will serve as ride captain, guiding you on a breathtaking ride through the canyons of the Black Hills, leading to a special catered reception, fashion show featuring Harley-Davidson Motorclothes and auction at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

Created to raise funds for South Dakota charities, Biker Belles bring women, their families and friends together to celebrate the role they play in shaping the culture, sport, art and the history of motorcycling.

Women, as well as men, are welcome to join the gathering of mentorship, riding and sharing. Riders are asked to make a contribution to join the ride and festivities, 100% of which will directly benefit two South Dakota charities that benefit women-related causes, the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and Helping with Horsepower. Helping with Horsepower is a program that uses contributions to help abused and at-risk young women and girls. The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum is world-class facility that uses the contributions to expand or enhance exhibits featuring women riders and their role in the history and culture of motorcycling.
