2014 BMW K1600 GTL Exclusive Revealed
Wed, 20 Nov 2013When it comes to moto-touring in the lap of luxury, BMW’s K1600 GTL Exclusive, the latest iteration of the K1600 lineup, promises the kind of high-class riding experience BMW is known for.
The K1600 GTL Exclusive takes luxury touring to another level, both visually and functionally. As with the rest of the K1600 line, the lynchpin of the model range is the uber-sweet 1649cc inline-Six capable of 129 ft.-lbs. of torque, 70% of that is available at just 1500 rpm. A thorough electronics suite including ABS, Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), three ride modes, and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) complement other innovative features like the adaptive LED headlight and well integrated audio system. A central locking system with keyless start is also a new feature for the K16 line introduced on the Exclusive.
Electronic updates don’t end there, as the new Hill Start Control makes taking off from an incline a breeze, which is especially handy when riding two up with bags full of gear. The passenger hasn’t been forgotten either, as they get a larger seat, armrests, and a heated backrest so they can travel in ultimate comfort as well.
The visual interface has been revised, with the gauges now offering more information than before. Chrome accents also adorn the cockpit area, and LED daytime running lights now come standard. Last but not least, a film radio antenna is embedded in the topcase lid, providing great reception without the trace of a bulky wire antenna. BMW claim it’s the world’s first application of such a device on a motorcycle. More standard features for the Exclusive include tire pressure monitor, an additional brake light, an engine protection bar, and floor lighting.
From an aesthetic perspective, the color scheme for the new K1600 GTL Exclusive adds to the sense of elegance and aesthetic appeal. The bodywork’s four-coat paint finish in mineral white metallic high gloss combines to striking effect with the classy chrome surfaces, the contrasting shade of magnesium metallic matt and the glacier silver metallic radiator fins. The color-coordinated upholstery for the seat cushions, backrest and pillion passenger armrests adds the perfect finishing touch.
Pricing for the new K1600 GTL hasn’t been set yet. Find more information by visiting your dealer, or online at www.bmwmotorcycles.com.
