2009 Toyota Tundra Ducati Transporter
Tue, 11 Nov 2008Motorcycling can be an expensive proposition. Those who take up the hobby to save money on gas find themselves spending a fortune on riding courses, gear and vanity signs that hang in their garage saying “Motorcycle Parking Only.” Others who get serious about the sport of motorcycle racing find themselves spending an arm and a leg on tires, replacement parts and silicon implants for the girls who hold their umbrellas for them in between heats. Yet another costly investment can be transporting your bike(s) to and from the track. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) recently unveiled a concept at the SEMA show in Las Vegas that could easily serve as your daily driver as well as chauffeur for your weekend warriors. The partnership between Toyota and Ducati North America intended to have the truck tied thematically to the Ducati Desmosedici RR, the only street-legal MotoGP bike ever produced to date.
The Tundra/Ducati Transporter is built on a Tundra CrewMax, which has been modified to accept a larger bed. The transporter incorporates Ducati Corse style and additional features like flip up bedsides, integrated tool and spares storage, and popup solar panels for accessory power.
Those who are into racing Ducatis are clearly into performance, so the truck has been enhanced through the full catalog of TRD Performance parts such as a supercharger, upgraded exhaust, intake, swaybar, lowering kit and big brake upgrade. A VIS Racing Carbon fiber hood, Alcoa 22-inch custom forged aluminum wheels and Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires also finish off the appearance of the truck nicely.
The interior has been dressed up by Fast Ed’s Interiors to continue the overall theme of the truck. Interior highlights include, custom fabricated seats with massaging capabilities, carpet, a suede headliner, and a TRD Boost Gauge and Pod.
Adding some function to the form, a Rampage Powerlift Ramp helps get bikes into and out of the bed when necessary making your frustration with attaching, storing and parking trailers a thing of the past. It may seem like an excessive investment at first, but don’t your bikes deserve the best?
