125, 200 Duke Models Drive KTM Sales

Fri, 30 Mar 2012

KTM is off to a strong start in 2012 with a 19% increase in motorcycle sales, thanks in large part to the popularity of its 125 Duke and 200 Duke.

The Austrian manufacturer says the two small capacity streetbikes form a large portion of the 8300 units it has sold so far in 2012. Based on those numbers, KTM claims it leads all European manufacturers in sales over the first few months of the year.

KTM hopes that trend will continue across the rest of the year. KTM says its other models are also doing well, and the upcoming lightweight Freeride 350 off-road model is also expected to draw consumers.

“We had a very motivating start to the new sales year,” says Hubert Trunkenpolz, KTM sales director. “However we were still surprised at how positive the results were for the first two months. The worldwide interest in the 125 cc and the 200 cc Duke models just keeps growing. In addition the turnover figures for all other asphalt models right across the ccm range are developing in a very positive way.”
