120th Anniversary Harley-Davidson Softail Models Leaked

Fat Boy 114 and Heritage Classic 114 getting 120th Anniversary Editions

Harley-Davidson turns 120 next year, which naturally means we’re getting some special Anniversary Edition models. Thanks to new vehicle certification data from Australia, we can confirm that the Heritage Classic 114 and the Fat Boy 114 will be receiving 120th Anniversary Editions.

The Australian certification for Harley-Davidson’s Softail models was updated today, adding mentions of two new model codes: “FLFBSANV,” and “FLHCSANV,” both with vehicle identification number codes that indicate 2023 models. FLFBS is the model code for the Fat Boy 114 while FLHCS is the code for the Heritage Classic 114, so naturally the “ANV” indicates the Anniversary Edition versions.

The Heritage Classic 114 received a 115th Anniversary Edition and it appears it will get another for 120.

As of this writing, only the Softial models have been certified with 2023 anniversary models; the documentation for Harley-Davidson’s touring models has not been updated since November, but we expect there will be at least one anniversary edition touring model.

UPDATE: Certified documents for Harley-Davidson’s touring and CVO bikes have now been updated with for 2023 models and possibly a new addition to the Icon collection.

The Australian certification also confirms 2023 model year VIN codes for the Heritage Classic, Fat Boy, Fat Bob, Street Bob, with the data confirming they are all staying with the 114ci engine. The Low Rider S, and Low Rider ST are also confirmed as 2023 models with the larger 117ci engine.

The last remaining 107ci Softail in the U.S., the Softail Standard, also has a 2023 model code, suggesting that it will be continue to be offered in the Australian market. There are rumors that it may be discontinued for the U.S., and that may still be the case, despite it continuing to be offered in other markets. This isn’t unusual, as the Sport Glide was also offered as a 2022 model in international markets despite being dropped in the U.S., and the Australian certification document suggests it is also returning Down Under for 2023.

Harley-Davidson is holding a 2023 model launch event on Jan. 18 and we expect the Anniversary Edition models, and all the returning Softails, will be part of that event.

Used to be a rider of Japanese motorcycles only. I now have nearly 130,000 miles on Harleys and found them to be as reliable and less maintenance intensive than Japanese bikes. Not having to disassemble a bike for a valve adjustment (hyd. Lifters!) or rely on a dealership for service is very nice. Removing cams to replace valve shims or paying $800 to have a VFR valve check done by an incompetent “mechanic” is something I don’t look forward to. I do all my work except tire changes and Harleys are easy to perform maintenance tasks on. True, a Harley ain’t a sport/sport touring bike, but they do have their unique qualities that millions enjoy.
