1993 Yamaha Gts1000a on 2040-motos
Yamaha gts1000a tech info

Yamaha gts1000a description
This is a 1993 Yamaha GTS-1000 sports-touring with 71,000 (might be slightly more, I am still riding it) miles in almost pristine conditions. I am the second owner of this great motorcycle, bought it back in 1996 with just about 3500 miles and it has been a great bike. The bike has plenty of torque and it handles like a late model 1000 sport bike. The brakes are awesome and the front end suspension allows very little front end diving during hard breaking.
The GTS1000 is a sport-touring motorcycle introduced by Yamaha in 1993, sold until 1994 in the United States, and sold elsewhere until 1999. It is notable for its innovative forkless front suspension, specifically a RADD front suspension designed by James Parker. This suspension provided improved stability under braking, but the improvement did not justify the additional cost for the consumer, and the bike was not commercially successful. It sold for around $14,000 back in 1993. The GTS1000 also had advanced technologies not normally found on motorcycles at the time, such as electronic fuel injection and ABS linked brakes. The engine was taken from the Yamaha FZR1000 of the time, and incorporated Yamaha's Genesis engine technology. In 2006, Bike Magazine declared the 1994 Yamaha GTS1000 the coolest of rare motorcycles. "Scarce, stylish, yet capable and completely usable: that's cool in our book." The bike have been exhibited in the Guggenheim Museum under "art of the motorcycle". If you are a collector, this one is a must have. |
