Yamaha YZF-R description

2008 Yamaha Yzf-R1 , 2008 Yamaha R1 for sale (Blue) 4400 miles I am the second owner and purchased the bike with 3000 miles on it. I though I would have used it more often then I did however the summers in Virginia are a little too hot for me to ride in. I am selling so I can buy a camping trailer which i think I can get more use out of with my family. This bike has not been ridden hard and is in good shape The bike has the following accessories which the original owner put on and I have all the original parts. Vortex rear set pegs, Graves motorsport full exhaust, Power commander, custom tuning. Accessories along are worth about $2200. Serious inquiree's only. I am in no rush too sell so no low pricing will be considered. I also have a couple of motorcycle jackets (Shift and Joe Rocket) as well as motorcycle gloves which for the right final price I can put as part of the sale. $7,750.00

Tue, 18 Dec 2012

Last week, we wrote about retired Formula One racer Michael Schumacher taking part in a track day at France’s Paul Ricard circuit on a Ducati 1199 Panigale. The event’s sponsor, Monster Energy, has released a video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the event. The seven-time F1 champion was joined by TT racer John McGuinness, retired MotoGP racer Randy Momola, Moto2 racer Pol Espargaro and Keith Flint, a musician from the group Prodigy and a racer in the U.K.’s  Hottrax Endurance Championship.

Yamaha to Cut Motorcycle Production in 2009

Thu, 26 Feb 2009

With mounting inventories coupled with a drop in demand, Yamaha will be cutting its motorcycle production in Japan by 24 percent this year or to about 260,000 total units; one newspaper reported this would be a 40-year low for the manufacture. Yamaha plans to cut production for motorcycles and other products by 30 percent in the Americas, 20 percent in Europe but will maintain production levels in Asia where demand has not dropped off. The company is forecasting its group sales to fall 22 percent with an operating loss of about $300 million.

R1 noise, bike porn and a quick lap

Tue, 24 Apr 2012

Trawling the internet for a sound clip of the Crossplane Crank Yamaha R1 on full chatter, I came across this: a few fast laps on board with New Zealand Superbike racer Tony Rees as he works the CABS Throttle Blipper on his 2011 R1. (Skip to 7:35 for the fast ones.) CABS is a system used by Superbike teams that makes use of the R1’s digitally controlled throttle. When you change up a gear, the bike blips in the perfect amount of revs to save time on track and make downshifts as quick and easy as clutch-less upshifts.
