Yamaha is once again hosting a custom sportbike competition for both amateur and professional builders. Up for grabs are MotoGP tickets, cash, trophies and bragging rights. For amateur builders the competition begins in the digital world by submitting your entry at yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown.

Yamaha Teases R25 / R3 and Tricity Reveal on March 25

Yamaha released a new microsite teasing the launch of two models, expected to be the production versions of the YZF-R25 (or perhaps YZF-R3 for certain markets) and the Tricity leaning three-wheeled scooter. The site, Revstation.com, features a countdown timer and a 15-second video offering brief glimpses of the two models. Get the Flash Player to see this player.

NO IT'S NOT an illusion: you're looking at the 1981 Yamaha OW53, ridden by double World Champion Barry Sheene in the first three rounds of the '81 500GP championship. The bike's owner, aircraft engineering entrepreneur Chris Wilson, has lent the £100,000 GP machine to Visordown for our stand at this year's NEC Motorcycle Show - 27th November to 6th December 2009. Sheene raced the bike in the 1981 championship, where he finished fourth at Salzburgring, sixth at Hockenheim and third at Monza.
