Yamaha YZ description

1979 Yamaha YZ400

Winner of 2005 AHRMA National Championship

Formerly owned by the late Mike Owens, who used it to win the 2005 AHRMA Historic 500cc Expert Championship in Post-Vintage Motocross. After its title-winning days, the bike went on static display in Owens' extensive collection of vintage dirt bikes, while he turned his attention to the Legends & Heroes Motocross Museum. In race-prepped condition, with top-end work by Boyko Racing and suspension rebuilt by DeWayne Jones, the YZ has been in a private collection since Owens' passing in 2015, and remains unridden. It should need only a simple recommissioning to be track-ready once more. Mileage is obviously low, though the exact amount is unknown. The bike is sold on a bill of sale, no title. Also listed in a separate auction is Owens' two-time title-winning 1976 YZ125X.

Note to new bidders: Bidders with fewer than 10 transactions, thank you for your interest but please contact me before making a bid, to verify your seriousness about purchasing. 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1: 165-miles

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

This is what auctioneers would call an 'investment grade vehicle'. I'd call it a bit of a waste. This 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1 has only covered 165-miles since new, that's an average of 12.6 miles a year..

Yamaha Teams Going Retro For Anaheim 2

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

In preparation for Anaheim 2, round 3 of the AMA Supercross championship, a few Yamaha teams are embracing the past for team colors. The CycleTrader.com Rock River Yamaha team is going back to Yamaha’s corporate roots with a White and Red themed look that could be found on YZs in the latter half of the 1980s and into the 90s. This color scheme also graced the prototype YZ400F Doug Henry rode into the history books with his win at the 1997 Las Vegas Supercross.

A couple of weeks ago, Yamaha Europe released a video called “Dark Side of Japan” teasing a new street bike it claimed would “change the sport motorcycle world.” Today, the company revealed its new model, introducing a new naked sportbike powered by a “Crossplane” three-cylinder engine called the MT-09. (EDIT: and we can now reveal that the North American version will be known as the Yamaha FZ-09.) The 2014 Yamaha MT-09 is powered by a new 847cc three-cylinder engine first teased at Intermot last year. According to Yamaha, the MT-09′s engine produces 113.4 hp at 10,000 rpm and 64.5 ft-lb.
