Yamaha YL2 description
Original Barn Find 1967 Yamaha YL2 100 Motorcycle Here we have for sale a very rare and unique original, barn find, 1967 Yamaha YL2 100cc two stroke motorcycle. This is a super rare bike that Yamaha made for only a few years. I had found this bike stashed away in an old barn here in Nevada. I bought the bike from the second owner but the provenance that was given to me was all from the original owner. I mean I have a ton of very neat paperwork that goes with the bike. I have the original sales receipt when the bike was purchased new from Reno's Cycle Center in Redlans California. The bike was purchased for $380 when it was brand new in 1967. WOW! I also have the original owners manual, original Yamaha warranty card for the bike, the original Calirfornia title and registrations and some other original Yamaha advertisements for the Yl2 motorcycle. That's pretty cool! The bike still sports the original black and yellow license plate that is on the title and old registration. The original license plate frame from Reno's Cycle Center is still on the bike which is pretty cool. This bike is really neat, it's a 100cc oil injected rotary engine. And, it has a TON of power for a 100. It's much faster then any similar displacement Honda of that time. It pulls through all four gears with a ton of power. The bike also has a manual clutch which is nice. The two stroke engine runs very well. It starts up first kick. I went through the carburetor and replaced all of the fuel lines. I found NOS Yamaha fuel line clamps and put a new NOS air filter on the bike too. The bike is pretty much all original besides the seat cover and tires. The paint and chrome are all original and are in pretty nice shape!! The blue is nice and shiny and looks really good against the chrome. The tank is really straight with just a couple of scratches on the paint. There is some wear on the engine cases and there is some scratches and chips in the paint. The original chrome exhaust is nice and straight but has some scrapes from where the kick starter rubs against it. The seat has been reupholstered with a reproduction style seat but the original seat foam with still used. Parts for this bike are extremely hard to find. The lights are both all original and intact. The bike does not have any turn signals on it. They were an option I think. The tail light and headlight work but the brake light is not functioning at the moment. I have not really looked into it. The original painted fenders are in nice shape. The front fender has a little ding on the top and the fender lip is a little tweaked. The wheels are in nice shape with just a little bit of patina on the chrome, spokes and hubs. The handbars are in nice shape and look to be straight and original. The grips are pretty nice for being originals too. The speedometer cable was replaced with an NOS unit and the gauge works and same as the dash lights. The rubber gasket that goes in between the speedo and the headlight bucket is dry rotted and is missing in areas. The tires are old dual purpose tires. The front is in great shape but the rear tire is a little cracked. It looks like there used to be a chain guard too that is not on the bike anymore. Again, this bike is super rare and very unique. It was made at the start of the Japanese motorcycle revolution in America. This is a old bike that has its chips and scratches in the paint but overall a clean original bike for its age. The bike has all of its original keys, and original tool kit with it too. I also put a brand new battery in that bike. Please ask any and all questions that you may have before buying the bike. Please call me or email me at 775-830-6760. I can store the bike for up to a month for that shipping arrangements are made. I have a shipping connection from here in Reno to Southern California, the shipper can take the bike for a couple hundred dollars, depending on the location. I have also had great success with STI Shipping. They are a very professional company! I can get a motorcycle pallet if you go with a shipper who requests one. The shipping is the buyers responsibility. I only accept cash, or cashiers check as acceptable forms of payment. Too many scams with other forms of paying. Thanks for looking! |
