Yamaha Virago description

Up for sale is a beautifully restored 1982 Virago 750 Cafe Racer.
The bike runs and handles great and sounds mean. The engine works perfectly, and the brakes are fairly new and there is a BMW battery installed on the bike with extension cable for a battery tender. The front tire is brand new and the rear tire is about 70%. There are many new parts installed on the bike including clip-ons, front tire, seat, LED signals, foot pegs, etc.
The tank has been designed by an art student and done by a professional welder and painter. It is a very unique and one of a kind look with the copper sheets on top of the brushed aluminium tank.
Countless hours have been put into this bike to make sure everything fits perfect. You will not be disappointed.
I am the second owner of the bike and the first owner had it for twenty some years. The bike has roughly 19k miles originally and I have put 500 miles after all the modifications.
The brand new odometer is working but needs calibration.

Yamaha Focusing on Developing Model Platforms

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Following the success of its MT platform, Yamaha says it will continue to develop new models based on shared platforms, allowing for a choice of multiple models while reducing overall costs. Speaking in a presentation on the company’s business operation, Yamaha Motor President Hiroyuki Yanagi reiterated the strategy of developing multiple models sharing the same engine and frame. Honda has followed a similar strategy with its NC models, seeing the platform evolve to include the CTX700 and NM4.

AMA Sportbike: 2012 Daytona 200 Results

Tue, 20 Mar 2012

The 2012 Daytona 200 delivered another fairy-tale finish with underdog privateer Joey Pascarella and the Project 1 Atlanta team fending off a pack of three other racers to win by a slim 0.048 second margin. Competing in just his first Daytona 200, 19-year-old Pascarella from Victorville, Calif., held the lead for 41 out of 57 laps to finish first ahead of a last year’s winner Jason DiSalvo while Cameron Beaubier squeezed by 2010 Daytona Sportbike Champion Martin Cardenas in a photo-finish to take third. For the Project 1 Atlanta team, the win marked a dramatic turnaround from a let down in 2011.

Simon and Leo

Thu, 11 Aug 2011

If you are a track day regular this year, you may well have bumped into former racer and friendly Kiwi, Simon Crafar. I first met him in Malaysia in 1990 when he was riding for a Yamaha dealer team, sweating his way round circuits like Shah Alam and Johor Bahru but with a long term plan to make it onto the World scene. And he didn’t take long as after riding for Honda in the UK in 1992 he moved to WSB in 1994 and enjoyed success with both the Honda and Kawasaki factory teams.
