Yamaha V Star tech info
Yamaha V Star description
For sale is a 2001 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic cruiser.
I'll start with the low points. The bike has been dropped a few times and is scratched and dented as a result, the low price reflects this. She still runs and drives fine. Would make a great first bike for someone to learn on since its already well broken in and doesn't have enough engine to jump out from under ya. Bike has around 22,500 miles on it as I am still riding it some to keep her fit. Now the good. As you can see from the pictures the bike has a windshield, bags, and forward controls. In the past 2 years the bike has got new tires (still 2/3 treed) a windshield bag and a mustang seat for the driver and passenger. The battery was replaced 2 years ago and has been on a maintainer. The bike starts right up every time. The carburetors have also been rejeted. The bike gets in the upper 40s mpg on back roads (bout 38 on the interstate). It is pretty loud, the baffles in the exhaust have been drilled out resulting in a good sound cursing and idling but some backfiring when slowing down and are pretty loud at higher rpms. So it's a bit bruised, and loud but it's a comfortable smaller cruiser that's at home on the back roads and would make a great cheap starter bike for someone. Comes with 2 keys, tool kit, and the manual. Please email or text me first with any questions about the bike. $1350 OBO show contact info I can text you a video of it running if you are seriously interested. Thanks for looking! |

What Would Colin Edwards Do?
Wed, 25 May 2011As fast as Colin Edwards is on the track, the Texas Tornado may be even quicker behind a microphone. We saw some of that last year in the Yamaha-produced “Man-Cation” video with Edwards and his then-Tech 3 teammate Ben Spies, and Edwards can always be relied upon for a good quote at press conferences. The producers of MotoGP’s official video podcast “After the Flag” have taken notice of CEIII’s wit.
Filling a void with an RD350LC
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Last winter I managed to fill a void in my life when I stumbled on a very reasonably priced Yamaha RD350LC. It was a tad scruffy, had the wrong exhausts but most importantly it was blue and white with all numbers matching. I had the usual euphoria when the deal was done but I underestimated how much pleasure this particular purchase would continue to deliver another eight months down the line. The difference with this old bike is, instead of just taking it for the occasional ride I was talked into doing a full nut and bolt restoration. Having never taking a bike apart completely before, initially it was quite daunting but I soon found the RD is easy to work on so it turned into a truly satisfying experience. I’ve had some help from LC enthusiasts with the rebuild, however, the stripping, sourcing and organising was a total labour of love. And call me sad but it has made me bond with this bike like no other which only adds to the feel good factor. The bike cost £1800 and I’ve spent around £1000 but I reckon my mint Elsie is now worth a fair bit more. I fancy rejuvenating a Fizzy next time but there’s lots of other cheap 70’s and 80’s winter projects out there so why not have a go yourself?
Yamaha Europe "Switches On" Plans for Electric Mobility
Tue, 08 Mar 2022Details for electric NEO's to come in the weeks ahead Yamaha Motor Europe outlined its plans for electric two-wheelers, revealing a range of scooters, bicycles and a moped. The announcement confirmed our report last week that it would include an electric scooter called the “NEO’s”, but the 50cc-equivalent model was only scratching the surface. The presentation provided a general outline of Yamaha’s approach to electrification, though it did leave us wanting more.
