2013 Yamaha Raider SCL, 2013 Star Motorcycles Raider SCL Introducing the new 2013 Raider SCL a very special, very limited production Raider for those wanting a truly unique chopper-inspired machine. Only 500 will be built and will feature everything that makes the Raider SCL one of the world s great performance cruisers, and more. Features The limited production Raider SCL is loaded with premium cruiser features. Crafted for riders who value exclusivity, only 500 of these exceptional machines will be built. The 2013 Raider SCL features newly developed, rich Crimson Red paint accented with an Intense Black color. The bike is hand-painted by skilled craftsmen to deliver premium quality the discerning rider is looking for. The 2013 Raider SCL simply stands out from the crowd. Stainless steel mesh throttle cables as well as clutch and brake lines give this bike a premium look. Custom 5-spoke chrome wheels co-developed by Star and Performance Machine, with matching chrome pulley and chrome belt guard, help elevate the Raider SCL to a true production custom. Great attention to detail was taken into consideration when designing the genuine leather two-tone seat with embroidered SCL logo, and matching beige stitching keeping the discerning cruiser customer in mind. Over time, the seat will develop a character of its own and will be unlike any other. The top panels of the seat have crocodile-pattern embossing on the leather for 2013. An exclusive metal SCL badge with hologram is placed on top of the fuel tank as a constant reminder to its owner that only 500 of these unique machines exist. Clutch has light, easy-pull operation 20% less effort at the lever than before. Left-thumb operated high-beam switch, and right-thumb activated accessory driving light switch for great visibility. Jewel-like fit and finish, and Star quality paint, chrome and attention to detail are evident all over the Raider SCL. Cool, tank-mounted instrumentation complements the custom look, and contains analog speedometer and fuel gauge, along with twin digital tripmeters, odometer and self-diagnostics. Bright multireflector headlight, LED taillight, and amber turn signals behind clear lenses give a custom look.

Three-Time World Champion Wayne Rainey Honored At Quail Motorcycle Gathering
Thu, 09 May 2013Saturday, May 4 marked the 5th annual Quail Motorcycle Gathering in Carmel, California. With such a diverse collection of historical, rare and outrageous motorcycles, the Quail is an event we thoroughly enjoyed attending last year. To commemorate the occasion, this year’s guest of honor was none other than three-time 500cc Grand Prix world champion, and local area resident, Wayne Rainey.
Yamaha Files Trademark Application for FJ-09
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Yamaha‘s next three-cylinder motorcycle may be a sport-tourer, if a recently-filed trademark application is any indication. The Tuning Fork brand filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the name “FJ-09” as it applies to “Motorcycles, scooters, three-wheeled scooters and structural parts for all the aforesaid goods.” Following Yamaha’s usual naming conventions, the signs indicate the trademark will be for a new sport-touring model using the same Triple as the FZ-09. Yamaha has made it clear it plans to introduce more three-cylinder engines following the FZ-09 (or MT-09, as it is known in Europe.) Previously-filed trademark applications for the YZF-R3 and R3 names raised speculation the next triple would be a sportbike, but as per Yamaha’s usual naming convention, the “3″ in R3 is likelier to refer to the engine displacement rather than the number of cylinders.
2013 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Report
Mon, 22 Jul 2013The 22nd edition of the annual LA Calendar Motorcycle Show marked its return to the Queen Mary Seawalk Village in Long Beach, California with hometown boy Sam Baldi taking the Bike Building Championship’s Best of Show trophy with a Jimmy Todorovith/Profile Cycles built Big Twin custom named “Lost Angel.” This year’s Calendar Show showcased not only top builders but selected vendors and exhibitors, and of course the Calendar Girl Music live performances. And as always, this year’s show celebrated the world premiere of the 2014 FastDates.com Motorcycle PinUp Calendars, featuring the world’s top SBK World Superbikes, sport and cafe bikes, and custom motorcycles with the beautiful Calendar Kittens. On hand throughout the day to meet with fans and pose for pictures were Calendar Kittens Apple Price, together with official SBK World Superbike grid girls Jessica Harbour and singer/songwriter Sarah Horvath.
