Yamaha Other tech info
Yamaha Other description
2013 Yamaha Super Tenere, Just one look at the rally-inspired Yamaha Super T n r and the wonder lust sets in. Features include a compact parallel twin engine with a 270 degree firing order, a wide ratio 6-speed transmission, Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle for optimum control and acceleration, traction control, anti-lock braking system, adjustable seat height, and more. The Adventure Touring segment had a pretty nice evolution in the latest years and there is also no secret that the entire segment was always dominated by the legendary BMW R 1200 GS.
Yamaha has decided to enter this segment very late its first Adventure Tourer being launched in 2012.
To be able to stand a chance in front of its main rival, the Yamaha Super Tenere needed a competent engine, so the Japanese manufacturer developed a new 1199cc parallel twin engine with a unique 270 crank for proper torque and traction. The same crossplane crankshaft can be found at the Yamaha R1 so you can expect to impressive performance figures. To give the bike a proper weight distribution, the radiator is side mounted.
Another useful feature is the traction control which regulates ignition timing and fuel injection based on wheel spin. The bike features two driving modes namely Sport and Touring. The first offers an extra grunt while the latter has a more serene character.

Yamaha Patents Tricity Variant Design
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Yamaha has patented the design for a new variant to its Tricity leaning three-wheeled scooter featuring a broader fairing resembling the TMax. Yamaha has previously announced it would introduce more leaning multi-wheeled vehicles, and this newly patented design may be the next one to go into production. The new design is heavily-based on the original Tricity.
You. Call. That. Lean
Fri, 14 May 2010Jean Philippe Ruggia, 1988, Coppice at Donington Park, Sonauto-Yamaha 250. This is elbow lean action. There was a previous blog entry of Ben Spies and his elbow grazing the tarmac onboard the M1 Yamaha, I admit it is impressive but I find myself admiring the horizontal angles that Ruggia submitted his 250 Yamaha to, with the above image taken at Coppice as a prime example.
Suzuka Eight Hour capers
Mon, 05 Sep 2011Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.
