Yamaha EKIDS Concept Appearing at New York International Motorcycle Show

Yamaha is bringing its full 2014 line of motorcycles to the New York City stop of the International Motorcycle Shows tour. Along with the production models from Yamaha and the Star cruiser brand, the company will display the EKIDS electric dirtbike concept that debuted at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The Yamaha EKIDS is powered by a DC brushless motor with electricity supplied by a lithium-ion battery.

The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Yamaha Quitting World Superbike Racing After 2011 Season

Yamaha announced it is withdrawing its factory World Superbike Championship race team following the end of the 2011 season. The news comes as a bit of a surprise, just a week after reports the team had re-signed racer Marco Melandri for the 2012 season. On the other hand, the team has struggled to find a title sponsor this season, as has Yamaha’s MotoGP team.
