Yamaha Other description

The 2009 Yamaha Royal Star is the tuning fork company's premier open road luxury bike. Featuring incredible comfort, inspired performance and handling, and classic styling, the Yamaha Royal Star is a flawlessly engineered top-shelf touring bike that rivals any other premium bike on the road today. Available in four models ??? the Royal Star Tour Deluxe, the Tour Deluxe S, the Venture, and the Venture S ??? the 2009 Yamaha Royal Star lineup can be easily transformed from a touring bike into a cruiser and back again, so riders can enjoy whatever type of driving experience they want. All four models of the Yamaha Royal Star lineup feature the same 79 cubic-inch, 1294cc, liquid-cooled, 70-degree V-four DOHC engine with a compression ratio of 10.0:1, and a smooth-shifting manual five-speed transmission with fifth-gear overdrive. Fuel delivery is conducted via four 32mm Mikuni CV carburetors, and the bike employs a shaft-driven final drive with a reliable transistor controlled ignition system. The 2009 Yamaha Royal Star has a high-integrity, double-cradle frame with solid engine mounting and a 29-degree caster angle for a super-rigid design that helps improve steering response and handling. Its class-leading wheelbase of 67.1 inches and low seat height (29.1 or 29.5 inches depending on model), gives the bike a nice, low profile that lowers its center of gravity for improved rider control and confidence. The Yamaha Royal Star offers legendary comfort, which is partly a result of its telescopic fork, air-assisted front end suspension with 5.5 inches of travel, and its air-assisted single shock with 4.1 inches of travel on the back wheel. Braking is delivered by dual 298mm hydraulic discs up front, and a single 320mm hydraulic disc on the rear. The bike's big 150/80-16 front tire and 150/90-15 rear tire stick to the road beautifully, and ensure a smooth and easy ride in all conditions. The 2009 Yamaha Royal Star is one of the manufacturer's heaviest bikes (869 lbs. for the Venture), but despite the weight, it is surprisingly fuel efficient. Capable of getting 42 miles to the gallon, together with its high capacity 6 gallon tank (5.3 gallon for the Deluxe), riders will appreciate the long-range capabilities of the bike. The Venture model is the Royal Star's touring king, as this package includes the standard 9.3 gallon hard case sidebags found on the Deluxe model, along with a model-exclusive rear 15 gallon hardshell trunk, thicker passenger and rider seats, a larger passenger backrest, a distinguished front fairing, and a four-speaker CD sound system with CB radio and intercom compatibility.

2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP Review – First Ride

Wed, 28 Aug 2024

Better suspension and Track mode brings us so close to an R9 Photos by Dave Schelske As the tail rider in a train of approximately seven identical Yamahas, I couldn’t help but watch in awe as each of us weaved our way through the notorious Tail of the Dragon, bending the bike underneath us to our will through the 120-something corners, the unison of the dance mesmerizing as each of us took our turn, one by one, around each apex, at irresponsible speeds, front wheels inches away from the person in front of us. This is the kind of trust you build up after you’ve ridden with the same group of people for years on end. We all know that riding with your friends is fun.

We've got a real treat for you on the Visordown stage at the NEC Bike Show. It's the ridiculously gorgeous Akai Yamaha, ridden by Barry Sheene and now owned by Chris Wilson. Niall Mackenzie and Jamie Whitham fire it up 3 times a day, just before one of our feature shows.
