This is a mechanism under the right side cover "the cases do NOT need to be split" that ratches the shift drum clockwise for up shifting and counter clockwise for down shifting. As you read this ad the parts are for sale on ebay for twenty bucks (27087XXXXXX). You will get the whole drum, but all this bike needs is the shift lever (16), pawl pin (18), pawl (17) and segment (23). The machine is currently stuck in first gear.
