Yamaha Other description
I'm the original owner of this fast (0-60 in 3.1 sec. according to the magazines) and rare (only 12 CA-spec FJs were made in '91) sport-touring modern classic. These are the motors used in "Legends" racecars, which ensures continued interest in and parts availability for this modern classic. This is a 22-year-old motorcycle. I can't list every tiny scratch or mark on it, but I have shown in the photos the most obvious. It is in excellent running condition and everything works except the rear brake light switch. ;-) The front brake light switch works fine. When you grab the front brakes, you have a brake light. There are certain occasions where one might want to brake without showing a light. Then you use only the rear brake. This is an easily replaceable switch if you enjoy paying speeding tickets. $500 due by Paypal within 48 hrs. of the auction end; balance due on delivery (cash or certified check only) or within 7 days of the auction end, whichever comes first. NOTE: Also advertising locally; may be ended early. If sold here first, local ad will be taken down.
I bought it new in May '91, and since covered almost 33K mi.
The 3/4 riding position is far more comfortable than a full-on sport bike while the air-cooled 1200-cc inline 4-cyl. motor and 5-spd give 90% of the performance. You can carve a canyon or do a 2-up 100-mph blast to Vegas!
Runs great and but for a few minor battle scars (see photos) is in excellent condition.
Improvements include Progressive Suspension front springs, FZR1000 R1 Gold Dot calipers, stainless lines, and an FJR 14-mm brake m/c. Also raised the rear 1 in. and dropped the fork tubes slightly in the tripletrees to sharpen the steering (most of the original parts are included in case you want to go back). Other than that, she's pretty much bone stock.
Tires are Pirelli Sport Demons w/ ~1K mi. on them.
The black tank cover isn't covering any ugliness, it's pristine underneath and the cover keeps it that way (no belt buckle scratches etc.). Of course it goes with the bike.
Recent work includes cleaned and synched carbs, fresh oil and filter, and a new clutch slave cylinder.
Includes the original tool kit, owner's manual, Genuine Yamaha Service Manual, and a bike cover. I also have a few spares (extra tail section, cam cover gasket, oil filter cover gasket, stuff like that) I'll throw in.
Registration is good through 5/2014.
