Yamaha Other description

Collector quality 1986 Yamaha fj1200. Unbelievable condition for a bike  30 plus years old. This bike has been properly stored and maintained. I am the third owner of this iconic sport touring
Yamaha that has never been ridden in the rain! Adult owned since new. Never been down or abused in any way.Included in the sale is the original owners manual, original yamaha tool kit{complete}, 2 original keys,
and the original title. The original owner was an FJ fanatic-his name is inscribed on the bottom of the seat.. He owned it from 1986 to 2006 and I am told he never had it in the rain. The bike is original and numbers matching.
The previous owner added a 4 into 1 discontinued V&H pipe kit. Pipe sounds great and is not loud.

Condition:

Bike is in fantastic condition. Plastic is near perfect with no broken tabs or cracks. The paint is original and shines like new. Gas tank has no dents and decals are also excellent condition. Windshield is also original and has minor
scratches and one tiny crack at one of the screws. All retainers for fairings, windshield and plastics is original and corrosion free. Grips, bar ends, footpegs all original. Engine is clean and has no leaks. Cylinder heads have minor black
paint flaking, unavoidable on an original bike. The bike will come with 2 lower chin fairings. The original one mounted on bike shows well but has some typical cracks etc.. consistent with a 30 plus year old bike. Included in the sale will
be an nos-never mounted chin fairing complete with uninstalled heat shield as seen in pics. This is the holy grail for fj owners and worth its weight in gold. How the 2nd owner found it is astounding! It is in new condition with no flaws.
He told me he mounted it once on the bike for pictures but screw holes show no signs of this. He never tightened the retainers. Choice is yours if you want to install the heat shield and mount it. I never did. The Oiginal slave cylinder weeped
slightly and lifted a small amount of paint on the frame underneath it. Very common on Fj's. There is a small paint touch up on the tail housing just behind the seat. Paint match is absolutely perfect. There is no paint fade on this bike anywear...period. Always stored indoors away from windows and sun.

The bike starts and shifts excellent.Once warm it idles nicely at 1100. Suspension is factory adjustable is firm and handles very nicely. Many people upgrade the suspension on these bikes. Suspension is all original on this FJ.
All guages work properly and entire electrical system is in untouched condition and is operational. Second owner replaced original style petcock with a manual style under tank as originals are prone to failure.

Maintenance: all done @ 11500

Metzeler Tires
DID gold o-ring chain
Slave cylinder rebuilt oe parts
Front brake master rebuild oe parts
Front brake pads
Carbs rebuilt by Jim Hailmann-Mikuni Doctor...Ultrasonic cleaning and bench test.

This bike has been a tough one to figure out for me during my ownership. It looks so nice you want to preserve it and keep it off the road. I could not do that,I road it about 500 miles a year on perfect days. Its just one of the nicest
Fj1200's left. And one you can ride with confidence or display forever in your basement, you choose. I am reluctantly selling at the end of the season-here in WI- as I probably would change my mind any other time. For a relatively
low price you can own one of the best sport touring bikes by any manufacturer.

Mystic Mac's 2014 MotoGP predictions

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

There is no real off season in Moto GP.  Although we complain about being starved of racing, for those at the sharp end, in little more than two months they have new bikes to assemble, team staff to put in place and sponsors to nail down that will pay for it all.  This time frame is also tight for riders, as it seems more every year go straight under the surgeon’s knife after the last round and spend the short winter recuperating for the season ahead. The 2014 Moto GP championship looks like a cracker as apart from the ten full factory riders we now have at least eight non factory riders with properly competitive machinery.  We also have five Brits on the grid, two with podium potential.  Whatever happens though (providing you have BT Sport) you can just sit back and enjoy watching the incredible Marc Marquez do things that shouldn’t be possible. Speaking of whom, I didn’t believe a Rossi replacement would come this soon.  And when I say replacement, I mean a rider that is the full package.  Although in some ways quite different to Vale, he’s an equally phenomenal talent plus a very likeable character that appeals to the masses and although respectful to his rivals off track, deadly competitive in the heat of battle.  Being young and good looking he’s obviously a dream for sponsors and the sport in general.  Marquez has evolved in his own way but thankfully into a perfect replacement for our sport when the VR steps down.

Canada Gets Race Blu 2013 Yamaha Fazer8

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

Back in September, Yamaha revealed a special “Race Blu” livery for a the YZF-R1, YZF-R6 and the YZF-R125 for the European market. Yamaha promoted the new color scheme with Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies sporting the colors on their leathers and M1 race bikes at the Misano and Aragon MotoGP rounds. North American consumers were left out, however, getting a Team Yamaha Blue and White version instead for the R1 and R6 (the R125 isn’t offered here either).
