Yamaha Ct1 tech info

Yamaha Ct1 description
Up for auction is my nice running 1973 Yamaha CT3 175 Enduro. This bike does not have a title. I had to list something in the box above. This overall is a very nice and original bike, and even has it's original lights and gauges. The bike fires right up and has excellent compression. Has a nice strong powerband and a surprising amount of power for a 175. Carries the front end in 1st and 2nd gear. The clutch does slip in the higher rpms in 3rd through 5th gear. I recently aquired this bike, the previous owner had the bike stored without gas in it for the past 10 years. Prior to it's storage it had a tune up at a motorcycle shop, including points and timing set. Just added some fuel, checked oil levels, and it fired right up. Previous owner stated that the clutch didn't slip before being stored. So chances are good that with a weekend of riding the clutch may start to grab better. Brakes work excellent front and rear. No suspension oil leaks. Inside of gas tank is very clean and won't require any sealer. Chrome is very nice, wheels are excellent as are the spokes and the hubs, very nice and bright. Bike is nice and straight, not all banged up. Not a show winner at this time, but with a little paint touch up and some additional cleaning it could be. I also have the buddy seat that attaches to the top of the rear rack, that seat also has a tear. The trip reset on speedo is missing. No battery so I can't check the lights. Seat cover is torn, but foam is good. Gas tank has some fading on the top along with some scratches and dings. Gas tank petcock doesnt actually turn off, so gas always travels through the fuel line. Carb bowl gasket leaks if it sits over night with the gas turned on. Simply needs a bowl gasket and a petcock replacement or rebuild, all available at a low cost here on ebay. One rear footpeg is missing. Slight oil leak at the clutch cover gasket, drips a few drops after sitting a few days. Just trying to point out all the negative items, so there aren't any surprises for the highest bidder. Overall a very nice bike, that just needs a small amount of time and money invested to take to the next level. Or simply ride it how it sits, it's certainly ready to hit the trails. Buyer to pay with cash upon pickup. Or money order/ Cashiers check if you are having it shipped. Deposit through paypal. I will ship the bike but you will have to make all the arrangments. Please check into shipping before you bid on the bike. |

Motogpnews.com. A blatant but worthwhile plug
Mon, 02 Aug 2010This story was published by our friends on motogpnews.com. It's not supposed to be serious: Fiat Yamaha application form Now you can take Rossi's space The expected departure of Vale46 ™ "Fack"© Rossi from the Fiat Yamaha team at the end of the season leaves a dwarf star sized hole in the motogp stratosphere. Popular opinion places Ben Spies firmly in the saddle of the ex-yellow liveried M1, but MGPN can exclusively revel that Yamaha big bosses are worried that Ben doesn't possess the necessary character traits to step up into the role.
You. Call. That. Lean
Fri, 14 May 2010Jean Philippe Ruggia, 1988, Coppice at Donington Park, Sonauto-Yamaha 250. This is elbow lean action. There was a previous blog entry of Ben Spies and his elbow grazing the tarmac onboard the M1 Yamaha, I admit it is impressive but I find myself admiring the horizontal angles that Ruggia submitted his 250 Yamaha to, with the above image taken at Coppice as a prime example.
