This lovely vintage hand painted porcelain Vincent wicker motif covered serving dish from Wood & Sons England is certain to enhance the beauty and elegance of any collection or decor. This dish is delightful. It is made of porcelain and has a creamy white high gloss finish. It is round in style with a tapered base and upward turned rim that is hand painted with a wicker and lattice motif in a rich cobalt blue and trimmed in a rich cocoa brown with an embossed tab handle on either side. The pattern is repeated on the domed button handle lid. The artwork is finely detailed and richly colored. It measures 5" in height including the cover and is 10.5" across from handle to handle. It is hallmarked on the bottom VINCENT Wood & Sons England W236. It is in good condition with no major chips, scratches, cracks, or crazing. There is a small flake chip on the underside of the rim as can be seen in the photo. Record Breaking Vincent Black Shadow Is Top Seller At Bonhams Auction
Mon, 29 Apr 2013A fully restored, ex-works 1952 Vincent Black Shadow was the top selling motorcycle at the Bonhams auction, held at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday, April 28, selling for £113,500 (US $176,341 after premiums). This Black Shadow was part of the factory’s bid to set a new 24-hour speed record at Montlhéry in France in May 1952. Mechanical troubles prevented that from happening, but the team still came away with eight records, including six hours at over 100 mph.
2012 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class Nominees Announced
Tue, 03 Apr 2012The American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation released its list of nominees for the AMA Hall of Fame Museum induction class of 2012. The 26 nominees represents a wide range of contributions to motorcycling, from motocross champions and Daytona 200 winners to tuners to motorcycle rights advocates. The selection committee will further trim the list down to six individuals, three from competition categories and three from non-competition categories.
Bonhams To Auction Bruce Smith Collection Of Original Illustrations
Fri, 11 Oct 2013On October 20, Bonhams will be auctioning off a collection of original illustrations by Bruce Smith from the 1960s and 1970s. Each one will be signed by Smith on heavy cartridge paper. The collection is comprised of cutaway illustrations of a 1963 Royal Enfield Interceptor 750cc, Chris Vincent’s 1964 BSA 650cc A65 Race Outfit, and a 1966 Greeves Racer, the largest of this series being 45cm x 62cm.
