The Drawings Of Delacroix By Vincent Price 1961 1st Edition Rare on 2040-motos
Costa Mesa, California, United States
Vincent All description
Rare first edition of
this book from the Master Draughtsman Series published in 1961. The front cover has
the drawing “Man Supporting Reclining Woman” instead of “Arab on Horseback”.
The Vincent Price credit is “By” rather than “Introduction by”. The back cover
is completely different from the 1966 “first edition” version. This soft cover book
is 9” x 12”. There are 51 drawings on the 48 interior pages. Condition is very
good for its age; the staple binding is tight, and the cover spine is good.
There is a coffee ring on the front cover, and a slight stain on the back cover.
The corners are slightly bumped, and there is just a touch of yellowing of the
pages. None of these things greatly detracts from the beauty of the artwork, or
the enjoyment of viewing it. See photos as part of description and item condition. The photos are scans of the actual book for accuracy. They are slightly cropped due to the large format of the book...

Behind the “Bathing Suit” Picture
Fri, 09 Jan 2009Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.

Record Breaking Vincent Black Shadow Is Top Seller At Bonhams Auction
Mon, 29 Apr 2013A fully restored, ex-works 1952 Vincent Black Shadow was the top selling motorcycle at the Bonhams auction, held at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday, April 28, selling for £113,500 (US $176,341 after premiums). This Black Shadow was part of the factory’s bid to set a new 24-hour speed record at Montlhéry in France in May 1952. Mechanical troubles prevented that from happening, but the team still came away with eight records, including six hours at over 100 mph.
