DESCRIPTION: Postwar British motorcycles book - AJS Ariel BSA Norton Triumph Vincent Velo This book is titled "The Hamlyn Guide to Postwar British Motor Cycles". It was written by CJ Ayton and published by Hamlyn in England in 1982. It is a hard-cover of 161 pages and provides an overview of a total of 150 significant motorcycle models of the British manufacturers in the period from 1945 to the 1970s. Includes motorcycles produced by AJS, Ariel, BSA, Douglas, James, Matchless, Royal Enfield, Norton, Triumph, Vincent, and Velocette. The book provides a description of the motorcycles with black and white illustrations. This book is in good solid original condition showing general wear from use. The dust covers show wear are a bit tatty. The covers show some surface wear and minor marks. The binding is still good. The inside pages are generally good with some marks and creases. Record Breaking Vincent Black Shadow Is Top Seller At Bonhams Auction
Mon, 29 Apr 2013A fully restored, ex-works 1952 Vincent Black Shadow was the top selling motorcycle at the Bonhams auction, held at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday, April 28, selling for £113,500 (US $176,341 after premiums). This Black Shadow was part of the factory’s bid to set a new 24-hour speed record at Montlhéry in France in May 1952. Mechanical troubles prevented that from happening, but the team still came away with eight records, including six hours at over 100 mph.
Classic Japanese Bikes Highlight Bonhams’ Next Auction
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Bonhams’ annual fall auction, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, at Stafford County Showground is scheduled for October 20, 2013. Included in the auction is the above pictured 1974 Kawasaki H1-RW 500cc triple. Expected to sell for approximately $96,000 to $112,000, the Japanese works Grand Prix racer is one of only two machines built by the factory for the French Kawasaki importer SIDEMM for use in the 500cc World Championship. The bikes were ridden during the 1974 season by the French endurance racing specialist Christian Léon and French-Canadian Formula 750 star Yvon Duhamel.
