Vincent All description
Hettier & Vincent A very rare large French
art deco chandelier by Hettier & Vincent in nickel plated bronze. Around 1930. The
fixture holds seven hexagonal shades in moulded-pressed glass. It's a beautiful model produced for H&V by Holophane (verreries des Hanots and Verlys). All seven cubes are signed Hettier & Vincent France. Hettier &
Vincent was a well-known French lighting company. With a high quality finish of
their lamp fixtures their chandeliers are now much sought after items. They produced lamps for the top end of the market and had itheir
shop at the prestigeous and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris - the groundfloor
of number 7. The chandelier has a
drop of 102 cm (31-1/8") and it's about 52 cm wide (23-5/8"). The chandelier is in very condition. It still has its Original nickel plating. Of coarse it shows it's 90 years old and it turned mat but it shows hardly any signs of wear. Most shades have small chips here and there. But really small and nothing is noticeable with the chandelier in place. Really a very good condition for this almost impossible to find top chandelier. It is represented in the 1st supplement of the general Hettier Vincent catalogue, page 137. The chandelier holds seven european candelabra size E14 sockets. For the US I will replace them new US candelabra base ones. I could also wire with B22 bayonet cap sockets. Free shipping offered - insured priority mail. The chandelier will be shipped in three parcels. Payment by Paypal or bank transfer. Check out over 200 other French art deco lamps in my shop. Visit my store: paravas com French lamps and wiring Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country. 9523 |
