AMA Supercross: 2012 Arlington Results

Defending champion Ryan Villopoto won his third consecutive AMA Supercross race in Arlington, Texas, but the victory was overshadowed by a season-ending injury suffered by one of his main challengers Chad Reed. TwoTwo Motorsport Honda‘s Reed trailed Villopoto in second place for the first six laps at Cowboys Stadium. Disaster struck on Lap 7 however as Reed crashed hard in the whoops.

Earlier today, John McGuinness earned his 21st Isle of Man TT victory, claiming the top step in the TT Zero electric motorcycle race aboard the Mugen Shinden San. His single-lap race time of 19:17.300 means he averaged an astonishing 117.366 mph, destroying the existing lap record of 109.675 mph set last year by Michael Rutter aboard the MotoCzysz. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, the Michael Czysz could not field a team this year. Josh Herrin wasted no time in 2013 getting his first AMA Pro American Superbike victory after falling short on several occasions during his rookie Superbike campaign in 2012. He earned it at the very first race of the season at Daytona International Speedway. And he earned it while wearing a Bell Star Carbon helmet.  “Herrin stepped up to the Superbike class last year and immediately proved that he was a serious contender, surprising a few of his competitors along the way.” said Bell Sports Marketing Manager Patrick Houlihan.
