Triton - 1964 / 2006

Norton Featherbed frame with a modern Bonneville motor

This beautiful Triton was hand built in 2006  by Don Pender, a well known classic bike engineer, as his own bike.

Since Don's ownership, it has been on display in my workshop - and now she needs a new home.

The Triton shows just 8 miles from new and is titled as a 1964 Norton Atlas.

The engine number is Y 181895.

The Triton is built around a unique, hand built Norton Slimline Featherbed style frame and has a modern Triumph Bonneville engine for everyday reliability.

This Triton has a left foot gear shift - just like a modern bike, so there is no need to re-learn how to ride an old bike. Also has an electric starter, electronic ignition, an easy clutch - and no oil leaks.

The twin cylinder motor is fitted with a Sudco Mikuni CR Carburettor kit and the bike comes with the standard carbs as well. She breathes out through RGM exhausts with 'Goldie' style mufflers. And she sounds like no other Hinkley built Bonneville!

Other notable features include the impressive 4 leading shoe front brake from a Yamaha TZ racer, a cush drive Norton rear hub (machined to match the front hub) and shouldered alloy rims with stainless steel spokes. Fasteners are all stainless steel and there are light alloy guards front and rear - as you would expect on a proper Cafe' Racer.

The eye catching fuel tank was hand built specifically for this bike, as was the stainless steel seat unit. Superb detailing is everywhere - from the matched, contra-rotating tacho and speedo, to the hand made alloy top yoke, the fork top nuts, chainguard and lightweight alloy instrument mounting bracket.

This really is a unique Cafe Racer and one of the best available anywhere worldwide.

The bike is currently in Melbourne, Australia and freight to the port of LA or New York is included in the asking price

Naturally I'll be happy to answer any questions and provide any more information on the bike.

And to add a little more information about this bike, below I've added a direct quote from another eBay member (who's name has been withheld for privacy reasons).

"I know Don quite well & he kept me up to date on the build of this bike. Geez, the frame & wheels alone are around $6,000 worth. The fitting of the mechanical tacho drive to this engine was an amazing feat in itself - Don also had to make the gears in the drive to turn in reverse just to get the tacho to work. Anyone who has built a Triton should know the worth in this bike. Imagine the labour fee alone if one had to pay to have it built.
A great Triton..............regards NXXX"

I might be interested in a 60's - 70's Norton, BSA or Triumph bike (project or not) in part trade - subject to any eBay rules.

Thanks for looking.

MO Tested: Triumph Trident 660 Akrapovi Racing Line Exhaust Review

Wed, 27 Apr 2022

For racing use only The Triumph Trident 660 isn’t the first middleweight naked I would consider taking to the racetrack. Then again, sometimes I forget that some people only own one motorcycle that they use for everything. But, that didn’t stop Akrapovič from developing and manufacturing a closed-course only race-line full-system exhaust for it.

2022 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR First Look

Tue, 14 Sep 2021

Fast Facts Café-style fairing Carbon fiber detailing More aggressive ergos than the RS Semi-active suspension MSRP $20,950 A modern café racer After a thankfully brief teaser campaign, Triumph revealed its new Speed Triple 1200 RR, a modern café racer based on the naked Speed Triple 1200 RS. Triumph did a lot more than just slap a partial fairing on the RS. While it’s still not a fully-faired sportbike (hence why it’s still a Speed Triple and not a Daytona), the RR is a much more track-focused machine than the RS.
