Triumph Other description

2014 Triumph Thruxton, 2014 Triumph Thruxton The Thruxton is born of the caf racer culture that dominated motorcycling in the 1960s. Back then, British twins, usually Bonneville engines, were used to form the basis of home built bikes. Used to race from one caf to another, they featured extensive modifications such as dropped bars, single seats and upswept exhausts. To this day, we ve kept many of these styling cues for the modern Thruxton. Named after the high speed British circuit where Triumph enjoyed great success in production racing, it follows in the tyre tracks of the legendary 1960s Thruxton T120R. And just like those caf racers of the 60s, the modern Thruxton is Bonneville based but nowadays, our engineers have made sure it rides like a modern Triumph twin. So it s dependable enough for everyday use, easy and fun to ride yet still evokes the classic caf racer look.

Twin-Engined Triumph Rocket Streamliner To Challenge Motorcycle Land-Speed Record At Bonneville

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The 1,000-horsepower Castrol Rocket is currently undergoing testing for its upcoming assault on the land speed record of 376.156 mph, set in 2010, by Rocky Robinson with the Ack Attack streamliner. The goal: a 400-mph-plus record-breaking run. The 25-foot long x 2-foot wide x 3-foot high streamliner was constructed in cooperation by Hot Rod Conspiracy and Carpenter Racing and will compete in the Division C (Streamlined) – Type V (5) Spark Ignition, Over 2,000cc to 3,000cc class. Powering the Rocket are two heavily modified Triumph Rocket III engines. Each Carpenter Racing built engine was reduced from 2,294cc to 1,485cc (2,970cc total) to meet the 3,000cc maximum total displacement class rule requirement. While piston size remains the same stock 4-inch bore, stroke was reduced from 3.75 inches to 2.4 inches and redline increased from 5,750 rpm to 9,000+ rpm. There’s also one Garrett GT2876R ball bearing, liquid-cooled turbocharger per engine.

Upcoming 2014 Triumph America Horizon Now to be Called the America LT

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Back in March, we broke the story of a new variant on the Triumph America for 2014 that had received an executive order from the California Air Resources Board. The CARB document, dated March 14, identified the new model as the Triumph America Horizon. Based on the name and Triumph’s current product offerings, we inferred the new model would be a new touring variant of the 865cc America cruiser.
