Triumph Daytona description

I registered the MSO myself and it's been expertly maintained while in my care. No accidents, never raced, never stunted, just a clean, reliable, well-cared-for bike. Mileage will not go up until it's sold. Full service as of 0 miles ago, which included:
  • Oil & filter, Motul 7100 10w40 full synthetic & genuine Triumph filter
  • Engine Ice coolant
  • Adjusted & lubed chain
  • Re-balanced both tires
  • Brake fluid front & rear, Motul RBF600
  • Fork oil, Motul 5wt synthetic blend
  • Fork & dust seals, genuine Ohlins
  • Lubed & adjusted steering head bearings

I love the way this bike looks and handles, especially with the Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, so I felt it didn't need much except:
  • 520 DID ERV3 chain with Superlite sprocket
  • Captive wheel spacers
  • GB Racing swingarm spools
  • Sato shift spindle holder
  • MRA tinted windscreen
  • Driven smog block-off plates
  • Exhaust valve delete
  • And, of course, a Battery Tender pigtail

Clean title in my name in hand, happy to deliver within a reasonable distance or help arrange pick-up.

But slimming down the 955i Daytona by losing its original one-sided swingarm, and other weight-saving measures, sometimes seemed more like cost-cutting ones. And maybe Triumph sensed the imminent demise of the superbike a bit earlier than some others.

A short film about Zen

Thu, 28 Apr 2011

This beautifully shot short film alludes to a phrase by Robert M Pirsig, the author of Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance: "If the machine produces tranquility it's right. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed".  But is any Triumph single ever capable of producing a sensation of tranquility, even when it is 'right'? I suspect not...
