Sadly it's time to let my dream bike go.
Numbers matching 1977 T 140. A rare survivor all stock except Boyer Electronic Ignition. New pipes,tires Avons,master cylinders,pads for front and back New bearings up front, new coils, etc..Recent bill Friday the fifth of August 2016 Recent work - Carbs and cables assembled, carbs synched and idle speed and mixture set. Fork seals replaced. Headlight mountings tightened, one bolt missing. Brakes checked, front is very good. Rear is working but weak, partly by design. New fuel lines put on. oil changed. Battery installed routed wires away from seat. Tightened handlebars. Checked valve clearance as it looked like covered been off. One exhaust tight. Test rode. Two quarts 20/50 oil, 24 inches of fuel line. 1 bottle fork oil 10wt. Two of the special nuts are needed didn't want them lost, so I took them off. Sadly with the arthritis and a very bad back I just can't ride it much. First or second kick starts. Runs very well,will be sad to see her go. I have only put about 100 miles on her since I got it..Just kills my back. Please no sales to turn her into some chopper or bopper thing. This is an original bike for the most part,tank could use a repaint Previous owner let it sit on side stand,and front master cylinder leaked Has a dent from a slide down, as the original pipe on left side was ruined. Hence the new pipes. Had those mickey mouse shorties on it. Left side footpeg is bent a little, could use a new rubber kit for them and shifter. Will gladly help with your shipper of choice. Watch: 2011 Speed Triple Dyno run
Tue, 05 Apr 2011With the full factory fitted arrow system and map fitted it was time to give the Speed a run on a Dyno to see where the power is at. Over two runs the best results were as follows; Power at the crank : 130bhp & 75 ft.lbs torque Power at the gearbox : 124bhp & 72 ft.lbs torque Power at the wheel : 119bhp & 69 ft.lbs torque The bike has covered 4200 miles and is due its first proper service at 6000 so you would expect to see a reduction in power. Triumph claim on a brand new bike the Speed Triple at best puts out 135bhp and 82 ft.lbs torque at the crank with the cans fitted, effectively mine has lost 5bhp and 7ft.lbs of torque.
Triumph to celebrate 20th anniversary
Mon, 22 Mar 2010TRIUMPH is celebrating its 20th anniversary since the relaunch of the brand, which takes place on Saturday September 18th at the Mallory Park race circuit in Leicestershire.A full programme of on and off track activities will be laid on, with on track activities including a round of the ‘Triumph Triple Challenge’, special invitation races featuring Triumph’s class-leading Street Triple and Daytona 675 motorcycles, plus shows from Triumph’s professional stunt riders. Off-track, visitors will be able to view the latest range of Triumph motorcycles, together with a selection of some of the UK’s best customised Triumphs. Key bikes from Triumph’s history will also be on display, as part of a unique exhibition exploring 20 years of Hinckley. On top of this, there will be a host of opportunities for visitors to ride the latest line up of bikes from Triumph’s demonstration fleet, both on and off track, along with many other riding activities for visitors to enjoy. Triumph’s factory, situated eight miles from Mallory Park, will be open for event visitors to take a tour of the facility. The company has also promised a few exclusive surprises for fans making the trip to this special event and the party will carry on late into the night, with a full programme of live music planned.
AMA Pro Racing Announces Basic Twins Flat Track Class for 2014 Season
Fri, 12 Apr 2013AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.
